Feedback and Feature Requests for Aqara Hub S1 Plus

Hello Aqara Team,

​I own the Aqara Hub S1 Plus and, while its design is appealing, I find its current functionality very limited for its price. It works as a basic hub and a switch, but the display is essentially useless. I managed to integrate it into my Home Assistant instance (on an OVH VPS) via Matter, though the setup was not straightforward.

​My main feature requests, which I assumed were already present when purchasing the device, are:

  1. ​APK Installation/App Support: Since the device is reportedly Android-based, please allow the installation of APK files (specifically the Home Assistant app). This would dramatically increase the usefulness of the currently wasted screen.
  2. ​Zigbee Coordinator Functionality: I request the ability to use the Hub S1 Plus as a Zigbee coordinator to integrate third-party Zigbee devices into Home Assistant. The hardware seems capable of this; it appears to be a vendor-imposed limitation.

​Currently, the device is overpriced for what it offers. Implementing these two features would make it an extremely valuable and reasonably priced device. If these options are not added in the near future, I will regrettably have to replace the device with one that offers better Home Assistant support.

I also wanted to know about the stated “camera streaming” feature. I have a video camera that sends an RTSP stream and is connected to Home Assistant. However, the Aqara S1 Plus doesn’t detect it. Nowhere does it state that only Aqara cameras are supported. How do I add a camera to the panel?
