Fibaro Dimmer 2 Compatibility with SmartThings Scenes

Hey everyone, I’m relatively new to the world of smart home automation and I’m currently experimenting with integrating my Fibaro Dimmer 2 modules (FGD-212) with the SmartThings hub. While I’ve managed to get the basics working—adjusting the dimming levels manually through the app and using the physical switches—the scene automation isn’t behaving as expected. I wanted to share my experience and see if anyone else has encountered similar issues or has a workaround.

So far, I’ve noticed two main problems. First, when I set up a scene or routine that should adjust the dimming level, the lights either don’t dim at all or just turn on/off without respecting the preset brightness level. This is a bit frustrating because it limits the creativity in setting up different lighting scenarios. Second, there’s an unusual behavior when manually adjusting the dimming level through the app. The first time I use the up/down arrows, it works perfectly, but if I try to slide the brightness bar without using the arrows again, it doesn’t respond until I go back to the arrows. It’s a minor inconvenience, but it’s something I’d like to understand better.

Another oddity is that the SmartThings app consistently shows the modules as being on, even when they’re physically switched off. This could be misleading, especially when trying to automate scenes based on the actual state of the lights. I’m wondering if this is a known issue or if there’s a setting I’m missing that could correct this behavior.

I’ve done some research and found that others have had similar issues with Fibaro devices and SmartThings integration. Some suggested checking the firmware versions, ensuring the hub is updated, and even trying factory resets on the dimmers. I’m hesitant to try a factory reset because I don’t want to lose any custom settings I’ve already configured. However, if that’s the only solution, I might have to give it a shot.

In the meantime, I’m exploring alternative methods to achieve the desired scene automation. Maybe there’s a workaround using third-party integrations or custom automations within the SmartThings ecosystem. I’m also considering whether this issue is specific to the Fibaro devices or if it’s a broader compatibility problem with the SmartThings platform.

If anyone out there has successfully integrated Fibaro dimmers with SmartThings scenes or has tips on troubleshooting these specific issues, I’d love to hear from you! Your insights could help me get my lighting automation up and running smoothly. Thanks in advance for your help!
