Fibaro Dimmer 2 Pairing Issue Solved

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience with pairing a new Fibaro Dimmer 2 on my OpenHAB setup. While most of my devices work seamlessly, this one gave me a bit of a puzzle to solve.

Initially, I tried pairing the device directly using the Z-Wave stick and also through the OpenHAB interface. Both methods detected the device, but it appeared as ‘Unknown Device’ with no channels. This was a bit frustrating since I had successfully paired several other Fibaro devices before.

After some research, I discovered that the device wasn’t healing properly. I decided to give the ‘Heal the device’ option in OpenHAB a try, and voilà! The device started showing neighbors, but the type was still unrecognized. I then checked the device type ID: 010F:0102:1001:3.5. It seems like this specific firmware version isn’t widely recognized by OpenHAB.

To resolve this, I updated the device firmware to the latest version available. After the update, the device was recognized correctly, and all channels became visible. It was a bit of a process, but it taught me the importance of checking firmware versions when dealing with pairing issues.

If anyone else is facing similar problems, my advice is to:

  • Always check for firmware updates first.
  • Use the ‘Heal the device’ option to ensure proper network integration.
  • If issues persist, consult the OpenHAB forums or community for additional troubleshooting tips.

It’s amazing how these small hiccups can lead to such satisfying fixes when you dig deeper. Happy automating! :rocket:
