After successfully integrating my Fibaro FGS-222 Dual Relay switch with SmartThings, I’ve been exploring ways to automate its functionality beyond manual control. Here’s what I’ve discovered and how you can set it up!
1. Sunrise/Sunset Automation
One of my main goals was to have the switches turn on at sunrise and off at sunset. Initially, I tried using SmartLighting and IFTTT, but the Fibaro switches weren’t visible. After some research, I found that creating a custom routine in SmartThings using the ‘Sunrise’ and ‘Sunset’ events worked perfectly. You can even adjust the timings slightly if needed!
2. Virtual Switch Control
I wanted both switches to be controlled by a single virtual switch for simplicity. This was achieved by creating a virtual device in SmartThings and linking it to both relay switches. Now, I can toggle both switches with one tap!
3. Tips for Successful Integration
- Ensure your Fibaro switch is properly paired with your SmartThings hub.
- Use the Device Handler provided by the community for better functionality.
- Experiment with different routines to find what suits your lifestyle best.
4. Troubleshooting
