Fibaro FGK-101 Sensor Integration Success Story

Hello everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience with integrating the Fibaro FGK-101 sensors into my openHAB setup. After my first sensor worked successfully as a door sensor, albeit without the tamper alarm, I decided to expand my setup by purchasing a few more units.

The first additional sensor was a breeze to include and configure with my Razberry controller, and it worked perfectly right out of the box. I was thrilled to see it functioning as expected and even glued it into place without any issues. However, when I attempted to include the second sensor, it initially appeared as an ‘unknown device.’ This was a bit puzzling, but I pressed on.

Unfortunately, the second sensor started acting up after being glued in place for about an hour. It began generating constant log entries every three seconds, and its battery life was rapidly depleting, dropping to 70% in no time. Restarting both the sensor and my openHAB Raspberry Pi didn’t resolve the issue, which was quite frustrating.

After some research and trial and error, I discovered that the issue might be related to the sensor’s placement or potential interference. I decided to try moving the sensor to a different location, and to my relief, the problem subsided. The sensor now operates smoothly, and the battery life has stabilized.

This experience taught me the importance of testing sensors in different environments before final installation. I also realized the value of community support and thorough troubleshooting steps. I’m now confident in expanding my Fibaro sensor network with these lessons in mind.

If anyone else is encountering similar issues, I highly recommend checking for environmental factors and ensuring proper placement. Happy integrating everyone! :tada:
