Fibaro Motion Sensor Integration and Automation Tips

I’ve been using Fibaro motion sensors with my Homey setup for a couple of years now, and they’ve been a reliable part of my smart home ecosystem. However, recently I encountered an issue where my Fibaro FGMS-001 sensors weren’t being recognized properly. After some research and troubleshooting, I found that the Fibaro app needed specific product IDs to function correctly. Interestingly, my product ID was already listed, which made things a bit confusing. I ended up contacting Athom support for further assistance, but the process was a bit lengthy.

In the meantime, I’ve been exploring other ways to enhance my smart home setup. For instance, I’ve been using Google Coral with Frigate for motion detection, which has been working exceptionally well for detecting people. However, I noticed that it wasn’t picking up pets or other animals as effectively. After some tweaking and documentation reviews, I managed to adjust the settings to improve detection accuracy. It’s been a learning curve, but seeing the system work smoothly now is really satisfying.

Another area I’ve been experimenting with is setting up automations for night lighting. I use a combination of motion sensors and smart lights to ensure the house is softly lit when needed. One challenge I faced was ensuring that the lights turned off when the mode changed in the morning. I ended up using a virtual switch to manage this, which worked out pretty well. It’s all about finding the right balance between convenience and efficiency.

Overall, integrating different devices and systems can be a bit tricky, but with patience and a bit of trial and error, it’s definitely achievable. I’m excited to continue exploring and optimizing my smart home setup!
