Fibaro Wall Plugs and Z-Wave Network Stability

I’ve been using Fibaro wall plugs (FGWPE/F-102 ZW5) in my Z-Wave network for quite some time now, and while they’ve been a fantastic addition to my smart home setup, I’ve encountered an interesting issue that I wanted to share and discuss with the community.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve noticed that some of my Fibaro plugs have been ‘disappearing’ from my network. This happens without any warning—suddenly, the status changes to offline with a COMMUNICATION_ERROR. When I unplug and replug the device, the LED ring turns red, which is the same as after a factory reset. It seems like the device is no longer associated with my controller. Strangely, the old node remains in the controller, and I have to use external tools like Zensys to remove it manually. This is a bit frustrating, especially since I have to go through the process of re-adding the device to my network each time it happens.

I’m currently running OpenHAB 3.1 with an Aeotec Z-Stick Gen5 as my controller. I’ve been wondering if this issue is specific to my setup or if others are experiencing the same problem. Has anyone else encountered similar behavior with Fibaro devices? I’d love to hear if there’s a known fix or workaround for this.

On a positive note, when the plugs are working, they’re absolutely fantastic. The ability to control power outlets remotely and integrate them seamlessly into my smart home ecosystem has been a game-changer. It’s a pity that these occasional hiccups are affecting my experience.

I’m curious to know if others have had similar experiences or if there are any best practices to prevent these communication errors. Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated!
