Firmware Update Success Story and Tips

Hello everyone! I wanted to share my recent experience with updating the firmware on my Hue Motion Sensors. It’s been a bit of a journey, but I’m happy to say I got it sorted out. I’ve been having issues where the sensors weren’t always reporting as inactive, which was causing some of my lights to stay on longer than they should. I came across some discussions about using Hubitat for OTA updates, so I decided to give it a try.

At first, I ran into the wildcard problem, which I saw mentioned in a few forums. The error message was pretty clear, but I wasn’t sure how to fix it. After some research, I realized that the firmware update process might require a bit more tweaking. I ended up updating my Hubitat to the latest version and retried the firmware update. This time, it worked like a charm!

I wanted to share a few tips for anyone else looking to update their Hue Motion Sensors:

  • Ensure your Hubitat is up to date before attempting the firmware update.
  • Double-check the manufacturer and model information for your sensors.
  • If you run into issues, try excluding and re-including the sensor in your system before updating.

It’s been a while since I’ve had everything working smoothly, and it’s such a relief to have my lights turning off automatically again. If anyone has any questions or needs help with their firmware updates, feel free to reach out! I’m happy to share what I’ve learned.

Looking forward to hearing about your experiences too!
