I’ve always been fascinated by how automation can make our homes smarter and more efficient. Recently, I encountered an interesting challenge with my pellet stove automation, and I wanted to share my journey to solving it.
The issue was that my automation wouldn’t trigger if the Nest HVAC state was already on ‘heat’. After some experimentation, I realized that the automation relied on detecting a state change. If the HVAC was already in ‘heat’ mode, the automation wouldn’t engage. To fix this, I adjusted the trigger to check the current state and act accordingly, rather than waiting for a change. This tweak made the automation work seamlessly!
I’ve also been exploring ways to integrate multiple smart home devices from different brands. For instance, combining my Hue lights with some Wyze cameras has been a breeze, thanks to openHAB. It’s amazing how these ecosystems can coexist and enhance each other.
If anyone has questions about automations, integrations, or even tips for troubleshooting, I’d love to hear from you! Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other make our smart homes even smarter. ![]()
