Fixing Offline Cameras: My Arlo Experience

Hi everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience with my Arlo cameras after a bit of a hiccup. It might be helpful for others facing similar issues!

Earlier this month, we had an electrical storm that knocked out our power. While our standby generator kept everything running, our Arlo Hub wasn’t on the generator circuit. When the power came back on, I didn’t realize the Hub was offline until later that day. Fast forward to Friday, when my wife noticed the cameras were offline while she was away. We tried everything—restarting the Hub remotely, resetting the router, even having our son give it a shot. Nothing worked!

Finally, I decided to try a factory reset. It wasn’t something I wanted to do, but it was worth a shot. I held the reset button with a toothpick for about 20 seconds, and voilà! The Hub came back online. I was able to restore the cameras after recharging them—they must have drained their batteries searching for a connection. It’s been working perfectly ever since!

This experience taught me the importance of having a backup plan for smart devices, especially during power outages. I’ll definitely remember this solution for the future. If anyone else is struggling with their Arlo system, I hope this helps!

Stay safe and keep those cameras secure!
