Hi everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of ESPHome and it’s been a fantastic journey so far! I’ve successfully integrated several devices into my home automation setup, which has really elevated my smart home experience.
Recently, I decided to take on a new project: flashing ESPHome onto a Sonoff M5 smart switch using a blank ESP32 chip. I came across some helpful suggestions online about swapping the locked chip for a new one, which I did. After ensuring my soldering was spot on, I attempted to flash the firmware using the usual method with an FTDI adapter. However, I encountered a snag—when I tried to push the firmware, the device just hung during the connection process.
Now, I’m considering whether the issue might be that the new chip requires a bootloader flash before ESPHome can be installed. Has anyone else faced a similar situation? I’d greatly appreciate any insights or tips on how to resolve this. Your experiences could really help me get this project up and running smoothly!
Looking forward to hearing from you all. Thanks for being such a supportive community!
