I’ve been exploring the idea of integrating Flic buttons into my smart home setup, and I’m trying to decide between the original Flic and the newer Flic 2. From what I understand, the Flic 2 offers better range and a more open IDE, which could make it easier to create custom bindings. However, I’ve also heard that the original Flic has been around longer and might have better compatibility with Openhab through existing bindings.
One thing that’s really appealing about the Flic 2 is the inclusion of a hub that can also handle infrared signals. This could be a game-changer for controlling my TV and other devices without cluttering my space with too many hubs. But I’m hesitant because I prefer keeping things as streamlined as possible. I’ve considered building my own IR-enabled Arduino devices, but that feels like a bigger project than I’m ready to tackle right now.
I’d love to hear from others who have experience with either the Flic or Flic 2. Have you noticed any significant differences in Openhab compatibility? Is the Flic 2 hub worth the investment, or should I stick with the original Flic for simplicity? Any insights would be incredibly helpful as I try to make the best choice for my setup. Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
