Hi everyone,
So I have a temperature sensor that has poor or no connecting to my hub. Okay, throw in a smart outlet somewhere and done I would say.
Okay, maybe reboot the M3 hub…
Well no, as it looks I have to remove and reconnect every device that should benefit from this new repeater?
And you should always add the device where it will be placed or it will take the route where it was when you added it?
What is the easiest way for this?
And @AqaraOfficial please make it an option to just push a button and that the network makes the best possible routing.

Let me restate what I think you are asking. You have an M3 Hub, a Temp Sensor, and an Outlet. You have the Temp sensor paired to the hub, but the signal is poor. You added in the outlet to strengthen the network but you are not seeing the effect of an improved connection. Is that right?
There’s no manual way to force this necessarily. The zigbee network should strengthen naturally. However, I would try unpair the sensor, taking it to where you want to install it, and pair it again. I would hope the distance would have the sensor connect through the repeater/outlet.

hey, don’t you see the zigbee signal strength of the sensor in the app? to find the best spot for it

It is always better to connect zigbee devices at the place of their installation, and the zigbee network is built automatically

Hello.
I think that your proposal regarding the reconnection of Zigbee sensor channels will not be taken into account.
There are a number of problems that Aqara specialists solve with this control configuration:
- saving sensor batteries (connecting the Zigbee channel is energy-consuming);
- the Zigbee protocol is low-information and therefore requires a physical button press to start the binding process;
- and the main thing, in my opinion, is the reliability of the Zigbee communication channel in a smart home.
Let me explain, if the Zigbee channel path is prescribed, it becomes fixed and does not change its path, accordingly, the gateway prescribes it and clearly coordinates the work.
This is my vision of this problem, I myself once proposed such a proposal until I delved deeper into this issue.
I emphasize that this is not an official Aqara answer.
@coletti.robert : Your restatement is correct. I however found online a lot of people saying that the only way to get the sensor to see the outlet as a repeater is to reconnect the sensor. Would be very annoying if you have to do that with every new device you add.
But I appear to have been to impatient. Checked again this morning and the sensor is at 100% green/excellent signal strength. So it did fix itself!
@andrius_b : That would be reverse working, you want to place a sensor where you want to sense something and then have/build a good network.
@Raman.V : I would agree but many fabrikants say connect it close to the hub then place it. But agreed, if it doesn’t work where it should you know right away.
@gafich10 :
- Devices always connect to a zigbee network. So a manual push for this should not cost thát much more batterylife. Just don’t do it every day

- With my SmartThings hub I can disconnect and reconnect the hub to the main power and it will rebuild the zigbee network. Should be possible.
- I’m not saying I want to decide what route a zigbee device should take. I would like the possibility to give a command where the hub will rebuild the zigbee network, as with the SmartThings hub by disconnect and connect it again to the main power.
But for now, problem solved!
As we say in the Netherlands: “Geduld is een schone zaak”

By the way, also would be nice to see the path a zigbee device is taking.
Wonder what path this sensor is taking.
It’s in the same room as the outlet, but also close enough to the hub.
SmartThings path:
Also interesting, just to mention it:
This watervalve is maybe 6m away from the hub but was always poorly connected. Now the outlet in the mix and around 17:00 (like the sensor upstairs) it went in the green.
I’m guessing because the signal can get to it easier from above (wooden plank, outlet is upstairs) then the hub that is to the side of it with concrete surrounding it.
thats what I meant, you place it where you need it and see the signal strength in the app
Yes, but you don’t use it to find the best spot. You find the best spot for your use and then check if the signal is good. I knew it wasn’t, that is why I bought the extra outlet to strenghten the network.
Great to see it resolved; as expected!
