Hey everyone! I wanted to share my recent experience with setting up Foscam cameras on my VeraEdge using the new UI7 firmware. It’s been quite the journey, but I’m thrilled to say I figured it out!
So, I recently did a factory reset on my VeraEdge, and I was determined to get everything back up and running, including my Foscam 8910W and 8918W cameras. From what I gathered, Vera changed how cameras are added in UI7, which meant my old setup method wouldn’t work anymore. I was a bit puzzled and a little frustrated, but I knew I could crack this!
After some research and trial and error, here’s what worked for me:
- Adding Cameras: I navigated to
Add camera>IP Camera Other IP Camera. Waiting for 6 minutes was a bit nerve-wracking, but I stayed patient! - Manual Configuration: My camera’s IP wasn’t showing up initially, but I chose a random one and proceeded. Under manual configuration, I set the URL to
http://IPADDRESS/snapshot.cgi?user=USERNAME&pwd=PASSWORDand entered my camera’s username and password. - Testing: The test worked, and the camera was added successfully! While I couldn’t get the pan and tilt to work initially, I remembered reading about using specific XML files. I tried adding
I_FoscamPTZ.xmlunderimpl_filein the device settings. This required a Lua engine reload, but thankfully, it didn’t throw any errors this time!
Now, my Foscam cameras are fully functional with pan, tilt, and motion sensor capabilities. It’s like having a surveillance system right out of a movie! I’m so relieved and excited to have this sorted out.
