I recently acquired the Foscam FI9821P camera and have been thoroughly impressed with its video quality and functionality. However, I’ve encountered an issue while trying to integrate it with SmartTiles, which has proven to be quite a challenge. Despite numerous attempts, I haven’t been able to get the camera to work seamlessly within the SmartTiles platform. Let me walk you through my experiences and the troubleshooting steps I’ve taken so far.
Initially, I was able to access the camera’s web interface without any issues by entering its IP address and port number directly into a web browser. This gave me confidence that the camera itself was functioning correctly. However, the real test came when I tried to configure it within SmartTiles. I experimented with several URL formats, including variations of the video stream and CGI scripts, but none seemed to work. Here are a few of the URLs I’ve tried:
<http://IP>:PORT/index.htm/videostream.cgi?user=user&password=password<http://IP>:PORT/videostream.cgi?user=user&password=password<http://IP>:PORT/cgi-bin/CGIStream.fcgi?cmd=GetMJStream&usr=user&password=password<http://IP>:PORT/cgi-bin/CGIProxy.fcgi?usr=user&password=password &cmd=setSubStreamFormat&format=1
Each attempt resulted in an error, typically a return code of -2, which I understand indicates a failure in the command execution. This has been quite frustrating, as I was really looking forward to leveraging the advanced features that SmartTiles offers for my home security setup.
I’ve also scoured online forums and support communities for any clues or solutions. While I’ve found some helpful tips, such as ensuring the camera’s firmware is up to date and verifying network settings, I haven’t come across a definitive solution to this specific issue. I’m now considering whether there might be a compatibility problem between the Foscam FI9821P and SmartTiles, or if there’s a particular configuration step I’m overlooking.
If anyone out there has successfully integrated their Foscam FI9821P with SmartTiles, I would greatly appreciate any insights or advice you might have. Whether it’s a different URL structure, a specific setting within the camera’s configuration, or a workaround that I haven’t thought of yet, I’m all ears. Your expertise could really help me get this setup working as intended!
Looking forward to hearing from you and hopefully resolving this issue soon. Thanks in advance for your time and assistance!
