FP2 Causing 2.4 GHz WiFi Instability and Disconnecting Other Devices

I am running into a strange issue with my Aqara FP2 and I am hoping someone here might have insight or has seen something similar.

The FP2 intermittently disconnects from WiFi, which obviously makes it unusable while offline. What is more concerning is that when the FP2 drops offline, it also seems to cause other 2.4 GHz smart devices on my network to disconnect at the same time.

For context, my network is properly split into separate SSIDs for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. The FP2 is connected only to the 2.4 GHz network. I have already tried adjusting multiple 2.4 GHz settings, including channel selection and bandwidth, assigned the FP2 a static IP, and fully reset and re paired the device. The issue still persists.

I have seen multiple forum posts discussing FP2 related issues, but I have not been able to find anything describing this specific behavior where the FP2 appears to destabilize other 2.4 GHz devices when it goes offline.

One thing I am also considering is whether adding a WiFi extender or access point in the same room as the FP2 would actually help, or if it would just repeat the same underlying connection issue. If anyone has tried running the FP2 off a nearby extender or dedicated access point, I would be curious to hear whether that made any difference.

At this point, I am not sure if this is a firmware issue, WiFi interference caused by the FP2, or some compatibility problem with my router. Has anyone experienced this or found a reliable fix?

Any ideas or troubleshooting steps would be appreciated.

Thanks

@kanuhad18 It sounds like a tricky issue with your FP2 affecting other 2.4 GHz devices—definitely not ideal! Let’s start with some troubleshooting steps that might help stabilize the connection:

First, ensure the FP2 isn’t too far from the router or blocked by metal obstacles, as this can weaken the signal. If your router supports dual Wi-Fi, try dividing the frequency and turning off WiFi7 compatibility to see if that improves stability. Also, make sure the FP2’s firmware is up to date, as updates often address connectivity issues. Rebooting your router (unplug for 30 seconds, then plug back in) is another simple step that can resolve network glitches.

This information comes from community discussions and user experience summaries and may vary by environment. Please verify carefully.

Since the issue of the FP2 causing other devices to disconnect isn’t widely reported, if these steps don’t help, reaching out to customer support would be the best next step. Contact the Aqara Home App Customer Service Team (Profile> Help & Feedback > Customer Service) or scan the QR code:
