How is everyone eliminating the false positive detections from the fp2?

False positives are a definite challenge at first. You can beat this using a combination of the following::
— dial down the sensitivity for defined regions until you start getting missed detections, then bump it up a bit.
— you might have to iterate these tweaks among regions adjacent to where you see the reflections
— place the FP2 so it does not receive reflections along a narrow angle between your target region and highly reflective objects (glass, mirrors especially).
— labeling reflective objects as obstacles seems to help.
— use the AI learning function after each set of tweaking you do. Maybe twice. Give it plenty of time.
— Make sure nothing is moving in the room. Ceiling fans can be a real pain if they are inside the beam.
— allow a week or two for the system to settle down after tweaks.
I turn off AI detection. I also setup automations to reset the fp2 sensor if motion is NOT detected for 1 hr and if motion is detected for more than 1 hr. Each room may very depending on how its used. That keeps the fp2’s in a ready like state, making it more stable.
The glare of windows can cause false positives in my experience.
Is it affect the lifetime of FP2 if it Reset frequenly
Thanks for all the tips. Going to try it out. I’m placing it a bedroom with posters and some reflective surfaces so I’ll reposition with the items everyone has mentioned and turn off AI.
The intention is so that this can trigger when I go to bed and sync with automations set up with home assistant
Room placement is the most important factor setting these up imho.
I had one where I thought was the perfect position, moved it a few feet and it solved my issues. If you can, try playing around with the placement.
I got an FP2 a few weeks ago and trying to use it for light automation. It’s sitting on top of a fireplace mantle about 5ft high in our living room. There’s a table in front of it with a glass top but most of the glass is covered with junk. However it keeps seeing two people in the room when it’s just me. I put a sticker of the table but it doesn’t seem to help. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Q
put an interference zone where the table is or maybe move the FP2 to another wall
