FP2-Has anyone tried using an external battery pack?

I have an FP2 but i want to mount it quite high, with no access to a power point close by.
Has anyone powered one off a battery pack that you can disconnect and charge?

@xsickboyx Using an external battery pack to power the Aqara Presence Sensor FP2 is an intriguing idea, especially for installations where a traditional power outlet isn’t accessible. The FP2 is designed to be powered via a 5V/1A USB-C connection. Therefore, theoretically, it should be possible to use a battery pack that meets these power requirements.

However, there are a few considerations to keep in mind:

  1. Battery Capacity: Ensure that the battery pack you choose has a sufficient capacity to power the FP2 for your desired duration between charges. The power consumption will depend on how frequently you use the sensor and any additional features like automation or AI learning.

  2. Power Stability: The FP2 requires a stable power supply. Choose a high-quality battery pack to avoid interruptions in power that could affect the sensor’s performance.

  3. Mounting Considerations: Since the FP2 can be mounted quite high, consider how you will access the battery pack for recharging. A setup that allows easy disconnection and reconnection might be beneficial.

If anyone in the community has practical experience with this setup, sharing insights would be greatly appreciated! It could be very helpful to know which specific battery models worked well or any challenges faced during the process.

Hello @xsickboyx
If you plan to use a battery, you need to understand that the device is designed for constant power supply and you will very often charge the battery if you put it in. From a power bank it works for several hours.

You might want to look for a rechargeable battery with integrated solar charging.
A better combo might involve a battery plus a small external solar panel, much like some security cameras.
