FP2 OR FP300 Presence Multi-Sensor: sitting or sleeping detection?

Hi there,

Could you please tell me if this type of sensors could detect different types of position like sitting or sleeping? If it’s possible, how do that with Home Assistant ?

Thanks

@julnav Hi there!

The Aqara Presence Sensor FP2 can indeed detect different states like sitting or sleeping. However, it’s important to note a few things regarding its modes:

  1. Detection Modes: The FP2 features different modes, such as sleep monitoring and zone detection. However, these modes cannot run simultaneously (Reference).

  2. Sleep Monitoring: This feature is designed for single-person monitoring and works by detecting subtle body movements such as breathing, thanks to its millimeter-wave radar (Reference).

  3. Automation and Zone Detection: You can configure zones in the FP2 for automation purposes, which allows for setting distinct detection areas such as a sofa or bed (Reference).

As for integration with Home Assistant, while the specifics aren’t detailed in the reference information, you would typically add the FP2 to your network using the Aqara Home app and then link it to Home Assistant. You might find community forums and resources helpful for specific setup guides with Home Assistant.

@julnav Hi there! Both the Presence Sensor FP2 and FP300 can detect sitting or sleeping positions, though their capabilities and setup details vary slightly.

For the FP2, it supports sleep monitoring as one of its distinct modes (though it can’t run simultaneously with other modes like zone detection or fall detection) . To detect sleeping, you can set a specific sleep detection zone (e.g., the bed area), and the sensor will focus on that area—movements outside the zone won’t be detected . To improve accuracy, you can fine-tune the zone position, minimize interference (like fans or curtains), run “AI Space Learning,” and adjust sensitivity . It can also detect sitting, as its presence detection works for stationary or subtle movements when set to appropriate sensitivity levels .

For the FP300, its dual-sensing technology (infrared + 60GHz mmWave radar) is designed to precisely detect human presence, including subtle movements like sitting or resting, avoiding false “absence” reports . This makes it effective for detecting sitting positions in a room.

As for setup with Home Assistant, the reference information doesn’t include specific steps for integration. You might want to check the Home Assistant community or Aqara’s official documentation for compatible configurations.

Hope this helps! Feel free to share more about your use case—other community members might have practical tips too. :blush:
