I’m having a terrible time with the Aqara presence sensors FP1E and FP300, and I’m hoping someone can help.
I’ve set up an automation (via Homey Pro, not the Aqara app):
When presence is detected → lights turn on
After 2 minutes of no presence → lights turn off
This part works perfectly.
The problem:
If I enter the room, then leave for about 1 minute, and come back quickly, the lights turn off and never turn back on.
I can stay in the room and even wave my hands, but nothing happens. The lights only turn on again if I completely leave the room for a minute or more, then re-enter.
This happens consistently in the bathroom and closet, which is driving my wife crazy
In real life, it’s very normal to step out briefly and come back.
My question:
Is there any configuration or setting that allows the sensor to recover faster or re-detect presence properly after a short exit?
Any tips for FP1E / FP300 tuning or automation logic to avoid this behavior?
Did you use the “No person detection cycle” for there for the FP300?
I set up the FP300 with the Zigbee protocol and in the Aqara app in the settings of the FP300 I’ve set the “No person detection cycle” to 30 sec.
When I leave the room and come back within the 30 sec, the lights will stay on. When I come back after 35 sec, the lights are off but turn on rather quickly.
The automations are made in Homekit and have no delay in them, just on and off, telling what to do when there is presence and what to do when there is absence. It works without a problem.
I don’t use Homey Pro but did you set “No person detection cycle”?
If you’ve set a delay in the automations in Homey Pro may have something to do with your problems with the FP300.
