Unfortunately entry and exit zones can be difficult to set, I always try to extend the boundaries and make my automation wait a few seconds before triggering to prevent false reports

As far as I’m aware, the FP300 doesn’t offer zone management in the way the FP2 does — no visual map, no named zones, and therefore no entry/exit zones to configure. What it gives you instead is detection distance, sensitivity, interference/blind-spot areas within that range, and Spatial Learning to teach it what the empty room looks like.
If you’ve found an entry/exit setting somewhere in the app for the FP300, I’d genuinely like to see a screenshot — either I’ve missed it or it arrived in a firmware I don’t have yet. But if what you’re after is “trigger when someone comes in, and again when they leave”, I’d approach it from the automation side rather than the sensor side: distance thresholds plus a short delay before acting, which is roughly what you described already.
Running 2× FP300 and 1× FP2 here, and the honest summary is that the FP2 is the one to reach for when you actually need spatial granularity. The FP300 is excellent at “is a person in this room, yes or no” — and much less fussy to install, since it isn’t tied to a power outlet.
