FP300 my fresh new presence sensor

Hi,

I just started working with aqara’s product and I would say this sensor is suprising MyLatestAqara

It is small and easy to install.
The ability to choose between Matter and Zigbee is an undeniable plus.

I’ve set it up in my office. There are several goals:

  • control the lighting based on brightness levels
  • control the shutters based on light and temperature
  • turn off the lights and power outlets when the room is empty

Now, it’s just a matter of getting it done.

@Ty_miam Hi there! Welcome to the Aqara community! :tada:

It’s fantastic to hear about your first experience with the FP300. You’ve hit on exactly why many users love it: the compact size, easy installation, and that versatile dual-protocol support (Zigbee and Thread) make it a real standout for beginners and pros alike.

Your automation goals for the office sound very practical and well-thought-out! Since you’re setting these up, here are a few tips based on common use cases that might help you get it done smoothly:

  • Lighting Control: You can create an automation like: IF presence is detected AND illuminance is under 400 lux, THEN turn on your desk lamp. This ensures optimal lighting for work without manual intervention.
  • Energy Efficiency: For the “turn off lights when empty” goal, you might consider setting a delay. For example, IF absence is detected for 30 minutes, THEN adjust settings or turn off devices. This prevents lights from flickering off if you just step out for a quick coffee.
  • Shutter & Climate: Integrating temperature and light data allows for smart climate control, like turning on cooling if it’s over 28°C and someone is present.

Since the FP300 supports rich custom settings in Zigbee mode via the Aqara Home app, you can easily adjust sensing range and delay durations to fit your specific office layout.

Thanks for sharing your MyLatestAqara setup! We’d love to hear how your office automations turn out once everything is running smoothly. Feel free to share your final automation logic if you want to compare notes with others!
