Update: It suddenly came back to live after 5 days of failed communication. Do not ask me how, but it finally managed to reset itself after being stuck in an update malfunction.
I have read that others have issues with the firmware update for fp300 being stuck at 0%. I got two sensors, and while one update after several tries and days, the other is still stuck. Activating presence and/or pressing the button on the device did not help. Next up for me was to take out and reinstall the battery. That did not help either. Then I went for a short reset after which the sensor no longer responded to anything. Then a full reset and still no way to reconnect the sensor to any of my three Aqara Hubs using every method of installation possible (magic, by, Zigbee, matter) Other with similar issues? I have a very strong thread and matter network as well as a fully functional zigbee and WiFi setup with proper channel separation. So, after four days of troubleshooting I now consider one of my two fp300 sensor dead/broken. Anyone else had similar issues?

I’m not sure what happened in between, but you can achieve OTA operation through dual protocol switching This way, you can also switch to the latest firmware and it will be faster
If the sensor does not respond to any operation, it may be because the battery is running low
How can that ever be the case? We both know the release date of the sensor and the estimated battery life using the Zigbee protocol. It was even set to save power. There were absolutely no warnings of low battery within the app. This simply cannot be the solution.
I saw that you said there was no response after resetting the device, so I suspect that the battery may be low.
I would like to know if you have found the device after resetting it. If so, you can use dual protocol switching to perform OTA on the device, which can be upgraded in just a few minutes.
We can guarantee that the OTA progress stuck at 0% will not cause equipment damage.
What do you mean by “in between”. In between what? It went unresponsive four days ago after trying to update firmware. The connection went from excellent to poor over night and nothing I did, made it possible for me to upgrade firmware. It just kept being stuck on 0% and I tried everything from pressing reset while updating, moving it right next to the hub (also tried waking it up), taking batteries out and putting them back in after a while, etc. Nothing worked. Then I tried I regular reset (5 presses), still nothing but an unreadable device, then a full reset (ten times reset), all the while trying to reconnect it to a hub (tried them all around the house and they are wired). Switching between by, Zigbee or Matter when trying to add it again, results in the same timeout issue an all three hubs around my house). Having used everything evening after work for three days trying different solutions, writing to support, scanning the Internet forums for answers, etc. has been in vain. I am going for a work related trip today and while leave it for the rest of this week without batteries installed. Then I will most likely try one more time before I consider it totally broken and a complete and utterly waste of precious time and money. Just hope Aqara will step up and replace this, as I have been dedicating my smart home to the Aqara plus Apple home integration setup for years. Got several of working product and had never had any such issues with their products before.
Well, it start to flash while pressing 5 or ten times but goes out after a few flashes. When I had it added to the hub, trying to update it, it did work just fine and pressing the reset set of the connection communication of the hub. I should never have tried to reset it, I guess, although I could not imagine that this would happen.
What exactly do you want me to do then? I have already tried Zigbee and Matter for adding it back to one of my hubs and it times out when it starts the “add to Aqara home” process.
It cannot find it by just scanning. All that works it the QR code on the device. Then it connects, but fail while adding it to the Aqara Home.
Hi @martinkragras , I also would take the last chance and change the battery! Maybe through all the pressing the button, battery drained out - it’s just an idea before contacting the support or supplier for a replacement
Please excuse me if I wasn’t clear earlier—I’m not on the support team, so my wording may not have been as professional as it could be. I’ve taken note of your situation and will personally ask our support staff whether we can arrange a direct device replacement for you. I’ll update you as soon as I hear back.
I’ll do my best to move this along quickly and avoid taking up more of your time.
Wishing you a smooth and enjoyable trip!
No, worries. It came back to live after being stuck in a non-connectable, non-resettable, mode for 5 days. Now everything is set up and running again. I never got to see the update come through but when it suddenly became responsive again, it has upgraded itself to the latest firmware. Do not ask me how, when and why.
