The biggest problem I’ve had with my FP2 has been that the very furthest part of the room apears to be just (about 1 metre or so) beyond its sensing distance. Does anyone know if the FP400 gets any further?

The FP2 has an officially stated maximum detection distance of 8 metres. I have not yet found an official maximum detection distance for the FP400, so it is currently unclear whether it can reliably detect someone one metre further away.
The FP400 has upgraded mmWave hardware and AI-based spatial detection, but that does not automatically mean it has a longer range. It could mainly improve accuracy, positioning and multi-person tracking within a similar detection area.
This would be a very useful scenario for the trial testers to check. A direct FP2 versus FP400 comparison in the same room, at distances of 7, 8 and 9 metres, would give a much better answer than the specifications currently available.
In the meantime, have you tried changing the FP2 position or angle slightly? At the edge of its range, even a small adjustment may help.

Didn’t really want to change the position as its proximity to the power is important. However, ts at the recommended height and I have changed the angle a few times but its not really improved things. It would be great to see some feedback on this when it becomes available.
i have 3 FP2 in use.
Only problem is in the bathroom because of a large mirror and the tiles.
It constantly sense person inside even if nobody was there for a long time.
I hope the FP 400 will fix this issue

That makes sense if the current position is determined by the available power connection.
Have you already tried setting the Presence Detection Sensitivity to High in the Aqara Home app? Higher sensitivity makes it easier for the FP2 to detect and maintain subtle movement, so it might help when someone is close to the edge of the detection range.
The FP2 also has an AI Learning option in its device settings. This should be run while the room is completely empty, allowing the sensor to learn the background and possible sources of interference. It will not increase the physical radar range, but it may improve detection reliability at the furthest part of the room.
Have you already tried both of these options?

Hi. Yes, I’ve tried both of those things. As an aside I’m not greatly impressed with the AI detection as it regularly see’s my dog as a person. I think basically I’m just pushing the FP2 too far really. I now have a work around thanks to the MotionAware stuff that came in the Hue Bridge Pro so I’m not too bothered by this, it just would have been nice to have it working by the FP2 presence sensing instead.
