From SmartThings to Hubitat: A New Beginning

After spending several months deliberating, I’ve decided to make the switch from the SmartThings platform to Hubitat. My journey with SmartThings began with their Arduino Shield, which was a great entry point for customization. Over time, I became deeply impressed with the platform’s flexibility and the supportive community. However, recent changes and the forced migration this year have made me feel it’s time for a fresh start.

While I’m sad to leave the SmartThings community, I’m excited to explore what Hubitat has to offer. I’ve heard great things about its stability and flexibility, especially for those looking to integrate multiple brands and devices. If anyone has any tips, resources, or conversion guides, I’d be grateful for the advice!

One of the standout moments from my SmartThings journey was how it played a crucial role in catching a burglar back in 2016. With the help of a D-Link camera, a Pebble watch, and Pushbullet notifications, it not only helped recover stolen items but also led to a significant police operation. That experience underscores the power of smart home technology and the importance of a supportive community.

As I embark on this new chapter with Hubitat, I’m hopeful for even more innovative possibilities. I’ll continue to recommend SmartThings to friends who are just technical enough to dive into home automation, especially for those looking to customize their setups. Here’s to new adventures in smart home tech! :rocket:
