Hi everyone,
I’m really excited to share a fun project I’m working on for a community strings group concert. We want to light up their violin bows with RGB LEDs and control them through Home Assistant. It’s a bit of a technical challenge, but I think it could be a great way to add some visual flair to the performance!
Here’s the basic idea: each bow will have an RGB LED strip attached (WS2812B LED Strip DC 5V Black White PCB Smart Addressable Pixel WS2812 IC 30). These will be connected to an Arduino mini or nano and an NRF24L01+ 2.4GHz radio. A single controller will send a numeric value to Home Assistant, which will then execute code on each Arduino to display different light patterns. As each song is played, another numeric value will be sent to the controller to change the light color and patterns.
I’ve done some research and found that there might be some limitations on how many LEDs can be lit up at once, and 9-volt battery power could present other challenges. I’m also flexible and open to other solutions as long as they’re economical.
If anyone has experience with similar projects or can offer advice on how to make this work, I’d really appreciate it! I’m in the planning phase, so I’m happy to adjust my approach based on feedback.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
Best regards,
