G100 Randomly Disconnects from WiFi on homekit

I have a few G100 cameras, a G350, and a few G5 Pro. My WiFi signals are excellent as I’m connected to Omada eap670 access points. My G100 cameras randomly disconnect for a few minutes sometimes but my other cameras don’t. Anyone else experience anything like this.

Is there any induction cooktop or microwave near the camera? Microwaves emit 2.4GHz radiation, which is the same frequency range as WiFi. Sometimes it also causes interference with WiFi, Zigbee, Bluetooth and microphones.

Or is the power supply 10W or more powerful? Sometimes the camera might need more and power fluctuations may cause the WiFi module to drop connection (WiFi modules are sensitive to unstable power supplies).

I have this same issue. Random drops. Video feed will freeze in Apple home and then become “unable to connect”. I close the app or switch to another camera and then back again and it’s fine for another short while and then does the same thing all over again. Interestingly it only happens with one of my g100’s. Both are in the same room looking out two windows but they have very different “lives” throughout the day.

Nothing near the device to interfere. It is only about 10-15 feet from the access point. I am not sure what is going on with it as it is very random. I will try another power supply to see if that helps. Thank you

Here are some suggestions you could check:

You might want to check a few specific settings in your Omada Controller for the SSID/WLAN group the G100s are connected to:

  1. Disable Fast Roaming (802.11r) and AI Roaming: IoT cameras often don’t handle roaming protocols properly. If Omada tries to aggressively steer or re-authenticate the G100, it can drop the connection for a few minutes and trigger HomeKit timeouts. Try locking the G100 to a single EAP670 access point via the Omada client settings.

  2. Check DTIM Period: On Omada, make sure your 2.4 GHz DTIM period is set to 1 or 3 (avoid 2 if possible, as some IoT chipsets struggle with multicast delivery timings for Apple HomeKit / mDNS).

  3. Disable Beamforming / Airtime Fairness on 2.4 GHz: These features can sometimes interfere with fixed-location smart cameras that maintain a constant, low-bandwidth data stream, causing the AP to momentarily de-authenticate the client.

  4. Static IP / DHCP Reservation: Make sure to assign a fixed IP to the G100s directly in your router/Omada controller to prevent lease-renewal drops.

  5. Firmware Check: Ensure they are running the latest G100 firmware, as Aqara has pushed out several patches specifically addressing intermittent Wi-Fi drops on this model.

On top of what @coccolino_26 recommends.

Check the indicator light color the next time it drops, not just what the app says. Manual lists solid white as a specific state — that’s the camera hitting a 10-minute “couldn’t bind account” cutoff, and it needs a full unplug/replug or a 10-second reset hold to clear, not a WiFi fix. If that’s what you’re seeing, this isn’t actually a connectivity problem, it’s a binding timeout, and no amount of DTIM tuning fixes it.

If the light’s staying blue and it’s just going unreachable in HomeKit, then yeah, power supply is worth chasing — Aqara specs a 5V/1A minimum for this thing. Try it on a known-good 5V/2A brick before you touch any AP settings.

And when you do get a HomeKit “unreachable” error — actually restart the iPhone AND reset the camera together. Manual’s explicit that doing just one side leaves stale error state cached on Apple’s end that looks like it’s still broken even after you fix the real cause.
