G4 vs G400 Facial Recognition

The G4 facial recognition was instant. The automation to unlock my gate and door occurred instantly.

The G400 takes 3-5 minutes to recognise my face then it will trigger to unlock my gate and door, then often multiple times.

So disappointed that I paid for the G400 thinking POE would be better than wifi and expecting speedier footage and automation when in fact it is far worse!

Can I get a refund Aqara?

I wonder if the difference is local detection vs cloud? For G4, Face Detection does not require a home guardian subscription, but for G400 it does.

Based on previous comments from the Aqara team it might be due to hardware limitations (N.B. G400 is not specifically mentioned, just following the principle).

So 1) there’s going to be more latency by default and 2) if its extreme we should look at your network and anything that might be slowing down those connections. Then if there’s nothing local introducing the latency it could be on Aqara’s end.

Hoping Aqara’s team can comment. on that. Have you opened a support ticket?

Sorry friend, as @coletti.robert said, this delay is due to the use of cloud based AI in G400’s face recognition. Its working process takes longer than integrating local AI and is not suitable for automation with high real-time requirements. I am considering porting the face recognition feature to the doorbell locally, but you will have to choose between human detection and face recognition. They cannot work simultaneously. After porting to the local, the automation of face recognition linked door lock opening will maintain the same experience as G4/G410. Do you think you can accept it?

The cloud based face recognition function is not without its advantages, as it has higher recognition accuracy.

I’d prefer on device recognition if it provides a speedier outcome.
