I got the G400 video doorbell, connected via POE and added to the Aqara app and homekit. It works well. The issue is when someone presses the doorbell button. I was led to believe (from YT reviews and so on) a phone call style notification would appear and when you answer the call, a video stream pop up appears. On my iPhone (17 pro, latest firmware) I get the phone call style notification but when you answer it’s only an audio call with no video at all. The only way to get video is if you actually open the aqara app. Am I doing something wrong? I’d really appreciate any help. Thanks.
@Expert Please check this, thanks!
It is my experience too. I’ve been meaning to check this out and see what to do… but life has been busy recently.
You can also answer the doorbell with video/sound from the Home App, BTW.
It’s always acted that way for me since first installed. I don’t recall Live Video Feed as an option. It’s suppose to simulate a voice call type activity not a Video Call activity.
This is the expected functionality so far.
Exactly ! It’s just a voice call direct to your phone ! If you want the video , you need to open the Aqara app!
Maybe this feature will come in future - but I don’t know if that’s possible! But @Aqara_PM_Donie should know the answer ![]()
Hello, in order for the video to open during a call, the Aqara application must be open and minimized on the phone. Only under these conditions does the video of the visitor who called immediately open for me.
I’m talking about Android.
The video opens without a problem on my iPhone when I pick up the phone. I’ll test the video again with the app removed from memory.
