G400 home assitant integration

Hello, I am trying to integrate my G400 video doorbell into Home Assistant. Currently, everything works fine in the Aqara Homa app, but I am having trouble integrating it into Home Assistant. Can anyone help me? Perhaps a link to a good video tutorial?

Hi. I don’t have a G400, but it should probably work exactly the same way as with a G3 via the HomeKit Device integration:

2. Integration via HomeKit

Once the Camera Hub G3 has been set up, it will be integrated into Apple Home and will need to be removed again for the time being.

To remove it, open the Apple Home app, go to Accessory Settings and select Remove Camera from Home.

Then please check your Home Assistant:

1. Open Home Assistant.
2. Navigate to Settings → Devices & Services.
3. The G3 should be automatically discovered by the HomeKit Device integration.
   If not discovered: Click “Add integration” → Search for “Apple”
   → Select “Apple” and “HomeKit Device”
4. Enter the HomeKit Pairing Code found on the base of the camera.

6. (Optional) Re-adding the Camera to Apple Home

Since Home Assistant “claimed” the direct HomeKit connection in Step 2, the camera is no longer visible in Apple Home. To use it in both Home Assistant and Apple Home, you must bridge it back.

1. In Home Assistant, go to Settings → Devices & Services.
2. Click Add Integration
3. Search for HomeKit Bridge
4. Select Apple → HomeKit Bridge.
5. In “Select domains to be included” choose the Camera
6. Click Submit. Read the instructions. Click Submit again.
7. Give the HomeBridge a name. Optionally, select an area. Click Finish.
8. Check the Notifications (sidebar, bottom left) in Home Assistant.
   A new QR code will be generated.
9. Open the Apple Home App → Add Accessory
10. Scan the QR code or enter the numerical code.
11. You will likely see a warning stating “Uncertified Accessory” (since it is running through a software bridge). Tap Add Anyway to proceed.

The camera will now be available in Apple Home while remaining fully integrated into Home Assistant.

Home Assistant automatically detects the G400 in Devices and Services, but when I click Add, the next screen saying “please wait, the Control Panel is starting” seems to freeze. The circle keeps spinning, but nothing else happens.

SOLVED.

After the automatic detection of the G400 in Devices and Services, I completed the configuration in Home Assistant on the phone. What didn’t work on the computer did work on the phone.

That’s probably got something to do with the way things get set up. e.g. Matter devices need to be via phone.

It should work over the network (LAN/Wi-Fi) without a smartphone. Next time, try clearing your browser cache, or press Ctrl + F5 in Windows or Command + Shift + R on a Mac. However, if it worked on your smartphone, that’s fine too.

You can also as an alternative option install the G400 in Home Assistant using the Generic Camera and RTSP option.

In the Aqara app go to the G400 camera settings-more settings-RTSP Lan Preview-Enable (note all the settings).

Open Home Assistant go to settings-devices & services-add integration-generic camera and use all the information noted above.

The Home Assistant Generic Camera option works very well with Aqara cameras.

I use the Picture Glance card but you can use any camera card you like. The Picture Glance card allows you to add doors and lights or locks to the screen that might he handy to have access to from that view of camera.

as others have said, the RTSP option is the best, to intergrate with home assistant. Button can be done via matter, but if not really needed with doorbell chime in my opinion unless you want light blinking.
