I have set up my G410 for two months. I find it either misses a lingerer or detects him when he turns his back (while the ring bell function is working well). Is there any ways to improve the performance? Please advise.
@hikat Hi there! Sorry to hear you’re having trouble with the G410’s lingerer detection—let’s try to troubleshoot this together. Based on community insights, here are some steps you can take to improve performance:
First, check if Proximity Trigger Detection is enabled. This feature filters events by requiring a complete approach process from a distance, so if someone is lingering without leaving and re-approaching, it might not trigger properly or delay detection (like when they turn back). Try disabling it in the app settings and test again.
Next, ensure Face Detection is turned on and sensitivity is set to high. Go to Device Settings > More Settings > Detection Settings in the Aqara Home app to enable it. Low sensitivity or disabled face detection could lead to missed or delayed recognition, especially if the person’s face isn’t clearly captured when facing the doorbell.
Lighting conditions matter too! Avoid excessive backlight or poorly lit areas, as these can reduce detection accuracy—this might explain why detection works when they turn their back (if lighting is better from that angle). Ensuring the area has consistent, adequate light (especially at night) can help.
Adjust the detection interval to be shorter. If it’s set too long, the doorbell might start recording after the person has moved or turned away. Shortening the interval can help capture them sooner.
Also, double-check that Power Saving Mode is disabled. This mode limits recording to button presses or app access, which would prevent consistent lingerer detection.
Finally, review your loitering detection settings to ensure the feature is enabled and the duration is set appropriately (not too short or long). You might also want to check for firmware updates, as these sometimes include detection improvements.
Give these steps a try and let us know if they help—we’d love to hear how it goes! This information comes from community discussions and user experience summaries and may vary by environment. Please verify carefully.
