I’m using mine the backyard and frequently use face and pet detection in automations. Works really well. I did stop using generic person detection though because some of my bushes and other outdoor items (lights) were getting picked up as people.
I have to distinct between two groups of false or poor detections, the first one is partially my own fault because I installed the cameras a bit to high, one about 2.80m and the other about 3.25m of hight. Sadly i need this hight for overlooking some solid obstacles.

Therefore I have poor recognition of animals on the ground and known faces. And it happens quite often that persons were detected as animals and animals as persons.

The movement detection is also falsely triggered quite often, by shadows, by movement of branches and leaves of trees and at night by light changes (e.g. car headlights). Sometimes fences or bushes were recognised as persons. Smaller animals like birds were not detected, regardless whether they are on the ground or on top of a wall or in a tree nearby.
What works quite good?
Car recognition, noise recognition, obstacle recognition, linger/loiter detection. For testing purposes I turned on parcel detection and it worked, sometimes the AI gives quite strange or funny descriptions, but that’s okay for me, since I do not need parcel detection at the places where my cams are mounted, therefore I turned that feature off again.
What have I done to improve the detection?
I played around with sensitivity, with detection intervals and detection times, detections zones etc. and found some settings which worked for me satisfying over all. Found a good balance between correct and false positives, restricted some notifications (but leave recording on) and now it secured my yard and driveway without wrecking my nerves.
