Hi everyone, I’ve been really enjoying integrating my Gardena Smart System into my Home Assistant setup. It’s been a fantastic experience so far, especially with the automations I’ve created to control my shutters based on temperature and light intensity using the built-in sensors. Everything runs smoothly when the system is active, which is most of the time!
However, I’ve noticed an issue that occasionally disrupts the integration. Whenever my home’s WiFi connection is temporarily disconnected—whether due to a brief outage or a Home Assistant update—the Gardena system disconnects from my setup. This can be a bit frustrating, as it means I have to manually reconnect it each time.
I’ve been experimenting with different solutions to prevent this from happening. One approach I tried was setting up an automatic restart for the integration if it detects a disconnection. While this hasn’t been entirely foolproof, it has reduced the frequency of the issue significantly. I’d love to hear if anyone else has encountered this problem and how they’ve managed to resolve it!
In the meantime, I’ve found that keeping the Home Assistant core updated and ensuring the WiFi network is as stable as possible helps mitigate these disruptions. It’s also been a good reminder for me to regularly check the integration settings and logs to catch any potential issues early on.
Overall, I’m really impressed with how the Gardena Smart System integrates with Home Assistant. The ability to automate my shutters based on environmental conditions has made my home much more comfortable and energy-efficient. I’m looking forward to finding a more permanent solution to the connectivity issue and continuing to explore all the possibilities this system offers!
If anyone has any tips or workarounds for maintaining a stable connection, I’d be more than happy to give them a try. Let’s keep the discussion going and help each other optimize our smart home setups! ![]()
