Hi everyone, I recently came across the GE 40 Amp Z-Wave Smart Switch and thought it would be a great addition to my smart home setup. However, I’ve been trying to integrate it with my SmartThings hub without much luck. Let me share my experience and see if anyone has encountered the same issue or has a solution to offer.
First, I’d like to highlight the features of this switch. It’s a heavy-duty, direct-wire switch designed for controlling large appliances like pool pumps or hot water heaters. It’s Z-Wave compatible, which means it should seamlessly integrate with other Z-Wave devices in my ecosystem. But here’s where I ran into a snag.
I followed the standard procedure for adding a new Z-Wave device to SmartThings: putting the hub into inclusion mode and then trying to add the switch. Unfortunately, it didn’t show up in the list of available devices. I tried resetting the switch and repeating the process, but the result was the same. I even checked if there were any firmware updates available for the hub, but everything seemed up to date.
I did a bit of research and found that others have had similar experiences. Some mentioned that the switch requires a specific inclusion method or that it might not be fully supported by SmartThings out of the box. I’m curious to know if anyone has successfully paired this switch with SmartThings and if there are any workarounds or additional steps involved.
Another thing I noticed is that the switch works perfectly when connected to an Amazon Alexa hub. This makes me think that the issue might be more related to SmartThings’ compatibility rather than the switch itself. Still, I’d prefer to stick with SmartThings for consistency across my setup.
If anyone has any insights or tips, I’d greatly appreciate it. Maybe there’s a specific configuration or a third-party app that can help bridge the gap. Let’s discuss and see if we can figure this out together!
Thanks in advance for your help!
