I’ve been using TCP bulbs for over a year now, and while they’ve been reliable, I’ve been curious about switching to GE Link bulbs for better compatibility with my SmartThings setup. After doing some research and testing, I’m happy to share my findings!
First off, the GE Link bulbs were incredibly easy to set up with SmartThings. It took just a few seconds, and I was up and running without needing any extra hubs or complicated configurations. The integration was seamless, and the bulbs responded perfectly to commands from my devices.
One thing I noticed right away is the difference in dimming performance. While the TCP bulbs have always had a slight edge in smooth dimming, the GE Link bulbs are still more than adequate for my needs. The color accuracy and brightness levels are consistent, and I haven’t experienced any flickering or lag issues.
Another big plus for the GE Links is their ability to work directly with SmartThings without needing the Wink Hub. This simplifies my setup and reduces the number of devices I need to manage. Plus, the fact that they’re ENERGY STAR certified means I can feel good about their energy efficiency.
I’m also impressed with the range and reliability of the GE Link bulbs. They consistently respond to commands from my phone and voice assistants, even when they’re placed in different rooms of my house. The app integration is user-friendly, and I appreciate the ability to create custom scenes and automate routines.
While I’m leaning towards making the full switch to GE Link bulbs, I’ll keep my TCP bulbs as backups for now. It’s always good to have options, especially when it comes to something as important as lighting in my home.
If you’re considering switching to GE Link bulbs, I’d say go for it! The setup is straightforward, and the performance is excellent. Plus, with the potential to save some money by selling your TCP bulbs, it’s a win-win situation.
