Hey everyone, I wanted to share a quick tip I figured out while setting up my GE Smart Outlet at my vacation home. I’ve been using it to control my outdoor Bluetooth speakers, and it’s been working great with a timer to turn them off at night. But I ran into a problem where my neighbors could accidentally turn them back on using Alexa.
After a bit of research, I found that disabling the Alexa skill for the outlet was the easiest solution. Now, only my account can control it, which gives me peace of mind.
If anyone else is dealing with similar issues, I’d recommend checking out the outlet’s settings in the smart home app. There are some advanced options that let you limit who can interact with the device. It’s a small tweak, but it makes a big difference in keeping things secure!
Hope this helps someone out there. Happy automating! ![]()
