After some digging, I understand that the GE 12727 is a fully functional smart switch that can be controlled via Z-Wave, while the GE 12728 is an add-on module that pairs with existing switches. For my three-way setup, it seems like I might need a combination of both to achieve seamless control from either entrance. However, I’m still not entirely sure if two add-ons would suffice or if a smart switch is essential for full functionality.
I’ve also been exploring how to integrate these switches with my SmartThings hub and create some basic automations, like turning the lights on when I enter the kitchen in the evening. It’s been a bit overwhelming, but I’m determined to figure it out!
