GE Switch Double Tap Configuration and SmartThings Integration

I recently came across an interesting challenge with my GE Z-Wave switch, and I wanted to share my experience and solution with the community. I’ve been using the double tap feature to control another Z-Wave switch, which I believe is configured through Z-Wave association groups. While this setup worked perfectly in the past, I’ve noticed some inconsistencies recently, especially with the SmartThings interface.

Initially, I configured the double tap functionality using SmartThings, but after some time, I couldn’t locate the necessary settings anymore. It seems that the interface has undergone some changes, making it a bit tricky to find the right configuration options. I’m curious if others have encountered similar issues or if there’s a workaround to restore the double tap functionality.

One thing I’ve noticed is that the GE Enbrighten Z-Wave Plus Switch Driver has been updated to support a wide range of features, including single, double, and triple taps, as well as held and released events. This makes me wonder if there’s a way to leverage these advanced features to enhance my current setup. I’ve also heard about the benefits of using Hubitat for more customized automation, but I’m not entirely sure how to transition from SmartThings to Hubitat without losing functionality.

In exploring this further, I stumbled upon a GitHub repository for the GE Enbrighten Switch Driver, which seems to offer more granular control over switch behaviors. I’m considering giving this a try, but I’d love to hear if anyone else has successfully integrated this driver into their system. Additionally, I’m curious about the best practices for managing multiple Z-Wave devices across different platforms.

Overall, while I’ve faced some hurdles with the configuration, I’m optimistic that with the right setup and community support, I can achieve the seamless automation I’m aiming for. If anyone has tips or tricks for optimizing Z-Wave switch configurations or transitioning between platforms, I’d be thrilled to hear them!

Thanks to everyone for their insights and contributions to this amazing community!
