Hello everyone, I’m thrilled to share my journey into the world of home automation! I’ve been eyeing this project for a while and decided it’s time to dive in. My goal is to automate a single rolldown shutter using a Raspberry Pi and an ELTAKO EGS12Z-UC controller. The idea is to have it open and close automatically based on light conditions and whether I’m at home or not. I plan to use ifttt.com for the light-dark sensor data and my phone’s IP address to detect my presence.
If this first project goes smoothly, I have a few more things in mind: adding an NFC-enabled door lock, an IP camera with recording capabilities, and some smart lights. I already own a Raspberry Pi and the ELTAKO controller, so I’m excited to see how these can work together.
I have a basic understanding of coding, mainly in Java and HTML, but I’m definitely a newbie when it comes to home automation. I’m curious if this project is feasible with my current setup and knowledge. Cost is also a big factor for me, so I’m hoping to keep everything as affordable as possible.
I’d love to hear your thoughts and suggestions! Have any of you tackled a similar project? What tools or resources would you recommend? I’m really looking forward to learning from the community and making this project a success. Thanks in advance for your help! ![]()
