After struggling with my GoControl opener not working with my newer garage door opener, I finally found a solution that worked! I wanted to share my experience in case others are facing the same issue.
I came across a ‘hack’ that involved using my visor remote opener. Here’s what I did:
- I opened the visor remote and located the button programmed to open the garage door from my car.
- I soldered the wires from the GoControl opener to this button.
- Reinstalled the GoControl unit near the garage and placed the modified visor remote beside it.
And just like that, it started working perfectly! I was surprised how simple it was once I gave it a try.
I know some might be hesitant about soldering, but if you’re comfortable with minor electronics work, this fix is worth a shot. It’s a great way to repurpose an old visor remote and save on buying a new opener.
If anyone else has had success with similar fixes or has questions, I’d love to hear about it! Let’s keep sharing solutions to make our smart homes work better for us.
