I’ve come across an interesting issue with Google Assistant and temperature units, and I thought I’d share my experience and see if anyone else has encountered this or has a solution.
I’ve set my preferred temperature unit to Celsius in both my Google account settings and within Google Assistant itself. However, Google Assistant continues to default to Fahrenheit for most of my queries, which is quite frustrating, especially since I’m used to thinking in Celsius.
I’ve tried several troubleshooting steps:
- Double-checking my profile settings to ensure Celsius is selected.
- Explicitly telling Google Assistant to use Celsius, which it acknowledges but then reverts to Fahrenheit.
- Resetting my voice profile and retraining it.
- Ensuring that my Google Nest Display is correctly set up and detects my profile.
Despite all these efforts, the issue persists. It’s a bit disheartening because I rely on Google Assistant for daily reminders and updates, and having the wrong temperature unit makes it less reliable for me.
I’m curious if others have faced this problem or if there are any workarounds or additional settings I might have missed. Perhaps there’s a way to force Google Assistant to stick to Celsius permanently or a specific command that can be used in conjunction with the temperature queries.
On a positive note, I’ve found that integrating third-party apps or services with Google Assistant can sometimes bypass these limitations, but I’m hoping there’s a simpler solution within Google’s ecosystem itself.
