I’ve noticed my Aqara blinds work perfectly on Google Home, but sensors and my Camera E1 are unreliable. Alexa integration, however, has been seamless for me. Curious to hear what other users’ experiences have been – especially with mixed ecosystems.
@imranbaharil It’s great to hear about your experience with Aqara devices across different ecosystems! Your observation about seamless Alexa integration aligns with the capabilities of many Aqara devices. For instance, devices like the Aqara Light Switch H2 and other compatible gadgets integrate well with Alexa, thanks to cloud-to-cloud integrations and Matter support.
Regarding your experience with Google Home, it’s interesting that your blinds work well while other devices like sensors and the Camera E1 have been less reliable. While Aqara devices generally support multiple ecosystems, performance can vary depending on specific devices and configurations.
Your experience is valuable, and I’d encourage others to share their insights and setups here. If you have any more specific questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask!
I have also had the best luck with Alexa. Google seems to be most useful for asking information based questions but not home automation. I’m currently trying shift my focus more towards using Home Assistant and a more local system.
I used to integrate Aqara Hubs (M2 and M3) through Matter with Alexa and Google, but the problem with matter is that you need to rename each device in the new connected ecosystem. I have also Home Assistant and there is an extension Matter Hub which allows to expose devices from HA through Matter with other ecosystems and it solves the renaming issue, because I can name the devices once in HA and I don’t have 10 “Temp and Humidity sensor” entities in Alexa. So I’m the end I have Aqara Hubs connected with HA and HA exposes entities to Alexa/Google.
But when it comes to differences between Google and Alexa, it’s hard to say for me, as I have only one Nest Hub and a bunch of Alexa devices. I switched to Alexa because Google Assistant used to take a lot of time to respond (later I realized it was caused by the fact that I use 2 languages in Assistant). But still, Alexa works better in general from my experience, and I only use Google Assistant in Android Auto.
