Got My Aqara Vibe to Work with Smart Scenes - Here's How!

Hey everyone,
Just wanted to share a small win I had recently — finally got my Aqara Vibration Sensor (aka the “vibe” as I’ve been calling it) working with some smart scenes, and it actually turned out to be super useful.

I’m still kinda new to smart home setups (got my first Aqara Hub a couple months ago) and had no clue what to do with the vibration sensor that came bundled. At first I stuck it on a drawer just for fun, but then realized it could trigger all sorts of things.

So here’s what I did:
I stuck it under the bed frame — weird, I know — but now when I plop down at night, it triggers a scene that dims the lights, sets a sleep playlist, and drops the temp a bit with my smart thermostat. Total bedtime vibes. :bed:

Also tried one on the mailbox outside — when it gets opened (i.e., mail!) it nudges me with a notification and flashes a little blue light on a shelf lamp. No more forgetting to check the mail!

Anyway, I know the Vibration Sensor doesn’t seem as obvious as the door or motion ones, but it’s got potential if you get creative. Anyone else doing fun stuff with the “vibe”?

Would love more ideas!

@RobotRoomie What a fantastic way to utilize the Aqara Vibration Sensor! Your creativity in setting up smart scenes truly highlights the versatility of this device. Placing it under the bed to create a cozy bedtime routine is ingenious, and using it for mail notifications is both practical and clever.

The Aqara Vibration Sensor is indeed more versatile than it might initially appear. With its ability to detect vibrations, tilt, and drop, it offers a range of possibilities for smart home automation. As you’ve discovered, it can work seamlessly with your hub to trigger various scenes and notifications.

If you’re looking for more inspiration, you might consider using it on windows or doors to detect unexpected openings or to trigger specific actions when movement is detected. The ability to adjust the sensitivity through the Aqara Home App also adds a layer of customization to fit your specific needs.

Thank you for sharing your experiences and ideas with the community. It’s always exciting to see how others are pushing the boundaries of smart home tech. Keep experimenting and sharing your discoveries—who knows what other innovative uses you might come up with!
