Hey everyone, I’m back with another review for you guys this time the Govee Flood Lights! I have to say I’m impressed! They are a lot brighter than I was expecting! From my first initial plug-in, they seriously lit up my room, which gives me an idea of how amazing these will be outside! I have to wait a few weeks to set them up outside due to snow and ice everywhere. But I will be mounting them to the roof of my home! So definitely stay tuned for that!
I’ve been using these lights for a while now and they’ve been a great addition to my outdoor setup. However, I’m trying to integrate them into my smart home system, and I’m running into a few issues. I’m using a Raspberry Pi with Home Assistant, and I was hoping the Bluetooth receiver in the Pi would suffice for the Switchbot integration. Unfortunately, when I try to configure it, it says no devices are found. Do I need a Bluetooth Dongle plugged into my Raspberry Pi that is dedicated to HA? I was really hoping the built-in receiver would work, but it seems like I might need an extra dongle. If anyone has any tips or recommendations, I’d really appreciate it!
Also, I’ve been experimenting with automations using my motion sensors. I have two different vendors’ PIR sensors upstairs and downstairs. I want the downstairs sensors to turn on the lights downstairs and upstairs, and the upstairs sensors to turn on the lights downstairs as well. I’ve set up two binary groups and separate automations for each floor, but it doesn’t seem to be working as intended. HA gets confused, and the lights don’t always respond correctly. I’m not sure if I’m grouping them wrong or if there’s a better way to set this up. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Overall, I’m really happy with the Govee Flood Lights, but getting everything integrated smoothly is a bit of a challenge. I’m hopeful that with some tweaking and maybe a little help from the community, I can get everything working perfectly. Thanks in advance for any tips or suggestions!
