I’ve recently installed the Govee Glide Tri with my wife’s help, and it’s been a fantastic addition to our home! 
The setup was straightforward, and the app made it easy to customize the lighting effects. However, I wanted to share a few tips and tricks I discovered while getting it up and running, in case others are looking to do the same.
1. Placement Matters
Finding the perfect spot for the Glide Tri was key. We opted for a corner placement, which allows the light to cast a beautiful gradient across multiple walls. Experiment with different angles and distances from walls to achieve the desired effect!
2. Custom Preset Creation
Creating custom presets was a game-changer. I found that combining different color modes and brightness levels created a more dynamic atmosphere. For example, pairing a soft white with a subtle blue gradient worked perfectly for movie nights!
3. Automation Integration
Integrating the Glide Tri with our existing smart home setup took it to the next level. Using IFTTT, we set up automations that change the lighting based on time of day or even specific activities. For instance, the lights dim and shift to warmer tones as we wind down for bed.
4. Battery Life Optimization
While the Glide Tri is powered by an AC adapter, we also tested the battery backup feature. Ensuring the batteries are fresh and properly seated made a noticeable difference in performance during power outages.
5. Community Inspiration
Checking out the community challenges, like the Stranger Things Light Effect Challenge, was a fun way to get creative. It’s amazing how a simple lighting setup can transform a room into a movie scene!
