I recently installed the Govee H61B5 kit in my media wall and wanted to share my experience, as I encountered a few challenges along the way that others might find helpful to know about.
First, I used about 16 feet of additional wire to extend the setup, which worked well in terms of coverage. However, when linking the strip in DreamView, I noticed an offset in the lighting pattern. Initially, I thought there might be an issue with the wiring or the strip itself, but after some research and adjustments, I realized the problem was related to how the strip was calibrated in the app.
I adjusted the length setting in DreamView to match the total length of the strip (32 feet in my case) and made sure to indicate the direction the lights were facing. This helped align the colors more accurately. Additionally, I synced the strip with my T2 TV backlight, which created a cohesive lighting effect that I’m really happy with.
One thing I’d caution others about is ensuring that the strip is properly calibrated in the app before making any physical adjustments. I also found that the Govee app’s support section had some helpful troubleshooting tips that I referred to during the process.
Overall, I’m very pleased with how the setup turned out. The lights provide a vibrant accent to my media wall, and the ability to control them via voice or the app is a great convenience. If you’re considering this kit, I’d recommend taking the time to thoroughly go through the setup process and familiarize yourself with the app’s features—it’s well worth the effort for the end result!
