I recently had a funny experience with my Govee devices that made me think my house was haunted! Let me share my story and some tips I learned along the way.
I have over 30 smart devices in my home, and honestly, I don’t always remember which ones are connected to which automations. My daughter has a few devices in her room, including a smart bed that lights up. One evening, as I was walking past her room, I noticed the bed lights were on—despite her not being home. I jokingly said, ‘I think we have a ghost in the house!’ My husband laughed and said, ‘If there’s a ghost, it better start paying rent!’
I immediately told Alexa to turn off the bed lights, but they turned back on almost instantly. It was a 3-minute battle before I could manually turn them off using the app. Turns out, I had an automation set up to turn the bed lights on at a certain time, and my husband was just messing with me by turning them on manually!
This experience taught me the importance of keeping track of my automations and double-checking before jumping to conclusions. Now, I make sure to label all my devices clearly and review my routines regularly. It’s also a good reminder to communicate with family members about smart home setups to avoid any spooky surprises!
