Govee LAN Control Setup Tips and Tricks

Hey everyone! I’ve been diving into setting up my Govee lights with LAN Control for Home Assistant integration, and I wanted to share some tips and tricks I’ve picked up along the way. It’s been a bit of a journey, but I’m happy to help others avoid some of the pitfalls I encountered!

First off, if you’re having trouble getting the LAN Control switch to appear in your network, it might be worth checking your firewall settings. I was stuck for a while because my office network has a Sophos firewall, and certain ports were blocked. After some research, I found that opening ports 4001, 4002, and 4003 made a world of difference. If you’re still having issues, double-check these ports are open on your network!

Another thing I found super helpful was using my phone’s hotspot to connect the Govee devices initially. It seems like the LAN Control switch is more likely to show up when connected via mobile data. Once the devices are paired, you can switch back to your home network without any problems. It’s a bit of a workaround, but it gets the job done!

For those of you using Home Assistant, I’ve been experimenting with different MQTT configurations to get the most out of my Govee lights. It’s amazing how customizable they are once everything is set up properly. I even created a simple automation that changes the light colors based on the time of day—perfect for creating a cozy atmosphere in the evenings!

I’d love to hear how others are setting up their Govee devices! Do you have any tips or tricks that made your setup smoother? Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other out as we all navigate the wonderful world of smart lighting! :star2:
