Govee Light Switch Review and Tips

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my positive experience with the Govee light switch. I recently installed one in a hard-to-reach location behind my fridge to control a pantry light, and it has been a lifesaver! :star2:

Installation Process
I must admit, installing a smart switch wasn’t something I was familiar with, but the process turned out to be much simpler than I expected. I followed these steps:

  • Turned off the power at the circuit breaker to ensure safety.
  • Removed the old switch and carefully disconnected the wires.
  • Discovered that the old switch didn’t use the neutral wire, so I had to fish it out from the wall.
  • Connected the wires to the Govee switch, which took a bit of trial and error since the load and line wires weren’t labeled.

Setup and Integration
Once installed, adding the switch to my Govee app was straightforward. I had to remember to enable my phone’s location services for the setup to work seamlessly. The best part? Alexa and Google Home picked up the new switch right away, allowing me to control it with voice commands. :dart:

Features I Love

  • Night Mode Light: This is perfect for the pantry since it provides just enough light without being too bright.
  • Auto Off Function: I set it to turn off after 15 minutes, which helps conserve energy and ensures the light doesn’t stay on unnecessarily.
  • App Control: The ability to toggle the light from my phone is incredibly convenient, especially when the fridge is in the way.

Tips for Others
If you’re considering installing a Govee light switch, here are a few tips:

  • Plan Ahead: Make sure you have all the necessary tools and wire strippers on hand.
  • Label Wires: If possible, label the wires before disconnecting them to avoid confusion.
  • Location Services: Ensure your phone’s location services are enabled during setup to prevent any issues.

Conclusion
While it’s not as flashy as an LED light strip, the Govee light switch is a practical addition to any smart home. It’s solved a real problem for me, and I’m excited to install a few more around the house to control other lights and fans. If you’re looking for an easy-to-use, reliable smart switch, I highly recommend giving Govee a try! :bulb:
