I recently installed my first set of Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights for the holidays, and I wanted to share my experience and some tips for anyone considering these lights. The installation was a bit challenging, but the results were worth it!
First, I used some 1x3 trim boards painted to match my house for mounting. This helped the lights blend seamlessly with my home’s exterior. I also added a fun Grinch-themed setup, which has been a hit with the neighbors!
One thing I struggled with was getting the lights to only illuminate specific areas, like the characters in my Grinch display, without lighting up the entire house. After some trial and error, I found that adjusting the placement and aiming of the lights made a big difference.

- Color Settings: Lower the saturation and adjust the white balance for a more natural look, especially if you’re using them for video mode with your TV.
